Overseas Clients Still Have to Pay

I did business with a couple of clients who live in a different country. All was well until they decided not to pay me and cut off all contact. I made calls, sent letters, and even tried emails, but there was no response from the clients. Since the clients were located overseas, I bet they thought they wouldn’t have to pay what they owed because they were in another country. They were wrong about that one, because I started looking into international collection services, and discovered that it was possible to get them money from them.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume that they’re having some kind of trouble making payments most of the time. I know what it’s like to be in a hard financial situation, and sometimes people a little more time to pay money that they owe. I felt that I had given these clients enough time to pay, and the fact that they didn’t want to answer any of my attempts to contact them made things even worse. They may not want to talk to me, but they have no choice when it comes to a debt collector, unless they want to get into further trouble.

Once I hired a collection service, they got to work immediately and were able to make contact with the clients who owed me money. It was amazing that they were able to reach them, since it took me so long. They even did it without being predatory, which is a challenge in itself. I know the urge to start making threats must have been great, but they were able to show professionalism and restraint. The clients agreed to pay the money in increments before things spiraled into a long legal battle that would probably end in my favor.
